Kenny Ortega has reportedly dropped out of the Footloose remake.

The director - whose Michael Jackson documentary This Is It opens worldwide on Wednesday - and Paramount Pictures had differences over the tone and budget of the movie, reports Variety.

According to the website, sources claim Kenny wanted a 30 million dollar budget with an emphasis on musical numbers, while Paramount bosses wanted a 25 million dollar budget and edgier drama, with less music.

Footloose, a remake of the 1984 film starring Kevin Bacon, about an urban kid who rebels against a country town's no-dance rules, will star Gossip Girl actor Chace Crawford and Julianne Hough.
