PENT-UP DEMAND! Twilight 'New Moon' Trailer Scores 5.3 Mil Views In 24 Hours

These fresh stats are astounding. Summit Entertainment has a count of 4.2 million views for the New Moon trailer from MySpace, and another 1.1 million from MTV.com, so that's 5.3 million conbined views in the first 24 hours from its two domestic online launch partners. By comparison, the 3rd (and last) trailer for Twilight received 3.2 million views in its first 48 hours on MySpace, piddling compared to viewership for the sequel's trailer. This is what's causing the traffic jam:

'Transformers 2' Tracking HUGE: 5-Day Weekend Closer To $160M Than $175M?

Paramount is gonna call me screaming any moment. But rival studios are telling me they expect Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen to open with a high of $175M for its 5-day opening from Wednesday, June 24 to Sunday, June 28. Because the sequel came onto tracking HUGE today. Paramount will try to lower expectations. But here's what can't be argued: Spider-Man 2 opened on Wednesday, June 30, 2004, and did $152 million for its first 5 days. So Transformers 2 feels like at least it should be in the $160+M range.

Universal Studios is planning a live-action family film version of the popular 80s’-90s’ children’s book series Where’s Waldo?, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Created by illustrator Martin Handford, the books featured Waldo, dressed in a red-and-white shirt, wearing glasses and carrying a walking stick, as he popped up in crowded full-page scenes.

The proposed film project will revovle around a 30-year-old Waldo, who travels through time after accidentally activating a malfunctioning travel machine.

Zac Efron was “ecstatic” to learn that Gossip Girl hottie Chace Crawford has been chosen to replace him in Paramount Picture’s upcoming motion picture remake of Footloose.

“I’m ecstatic for him. We’re both in very different places and it just happened to work out. I think it’s gonna work out for the best.”

The 17 Again star — best known for his role as Troy in Disney’s High School Musical franchise — dropped out of the film earlier this year, citing fears that he would become typecast in musical roles.

On Tuesday, NBC announced the launch date for former late night funnyman Jay Leno’s new primetime series on the network. The Jay Leno Show will premiere on Sept. 14.

The new hour-long primetime special, starring the biggest chin in showbusiness, will air weeknights @ 10 PM. Upon its premiere, The Jay Leno Show will be the first talk-entertainment show to run five nights a week in primetime, according to The Associated Press.

Jay Leno ended his 17-year run as host of The Tonight Show last Friday. On Monday, comedian Conan O’Brien took over the show’s new host.
