What a tragic waste of young talent. News reports say actress Brittany Murphy went into cardiac arrest this morning at age 32. I always found her performances fresh in both comedies like Clueless, Just Married and Little Black Book, and dramas like 8 Mile, Don't Say A Word, Uptown Girl, and Sin City. She was about to have a career renewal with several movies coming out in 2010.

According to the Coroner’s Office, a 911 call was made from a home in Los Angeles belonging to Murphy’s husband at 8 AM Sunday morning after her mother found her unconscious in the shower She had gone into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived. The actress was pronounced dead on arrival after being taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Murphy was born in Atlanta on Nov. 10, 1977, and raised in New Jersey. Accompanied by her mother, she moved to Los Angeles in the early 1990s in hopes of stardom. Brittany first appeared on TV shows like Kids Incorporated, Drexell’s Class, and Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, later starring on the big screen, appearing alongside stars including Angelina Jolie, Michael Douglas, and Ashton Kutcher. She made her breakthrough in the 1995 comedy Clueless, playing Cher’s pal Ty.

Brittany was also the longtime voice of Luanne Platter on FOX’s King of the Hill, and also voiced a character in the animated film Happy Feet.

Ashton Kutcher — who once dated the actress who co-starred with him in the 2003 flick Just Married –,Tweeted the following message: “2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon … see you on the other side kid.”

A rep for the actress also confirmed the news, issuing the following statement: “In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy.”

Brittany was married to screenwriter Simon Monjack, whom she wed in May 2007.
