Why So Serious !!
This is crazy.
Reports are surfacing that the new Warner Bros Batman film, Dark Knight, is set to have a record-breaking weekend.
Sources are estimating that the film will bring in around $130 million for its opening 3-day weekend.
And, when it opens, next Friday, is not even a holiday weekend! Even more impressive!
However, WB is trying to lower expectations, suggesting that the film might "only" make $90 million due to increased competition now as opposed to the beginning of May.
ONLY $90 million? That's still a damn lot!
And, as we mentioned last month, pre-sales for the film are selling out quickly!
We've already scored our tix for opening night at one of the Imax theaters in L.A. Yay!!!!
Additionally, inside sources are telling PerezHilton.com exclusively that the opening weekend for the
Batman sequel could bring in about $150 million or more. That's record breaking!
And, despite the fact that the movie is a bit longer than usual, at 2 hours and 32 minutes, theater managers are trying to by-pass the problem by adding late and round-the-clock screenings during its debut on July 18th.
So the main question is, Will U go watch Dark Knight on its opening weekend?
(Duh, the answer is yes.)

Olafur Eliasson's Waterfalls start flowing tomorrow morning-- perhaps as early as 7am, but sadly, the Circle Line tours of the bay don't start until Friday. So if you want a good view (or a good picture) of these babies, you're going to have to view them from land. No problem: we've marked the best viewing spots for each one on the map above.
1. Governors Island-- this is the toughest one to view without a boat. Best spot is from the piers next to the Maritime Ferry Building at the tip of Manhattan. For a closeup, bring binoculars or a telephoto lens.
2. Brooklyn Piers-- for the angle shown above, you'll need to be on the Manhattan side, on the waterfront by the Helicopter terminal. If you don't mind seeing the back of the falls, you can get a closeup view from the Brooklyn Promenade, or from Empire State Park, north of the Bridge.
4. Pier 35-- this waterfall is best seen from the path right under the FDR that runs alongside the water, or from above, on the Manhattan Bridge Bike Path (north side of the bridge-- be careful of bikers!)
A note on timing: in the morning, the light will be coming from the East, so you'll get better photographs on the Brooklyn side. In the afternoon or at night, the light will be from the west, and the falls will be lit up with lights, so it's better to shoot from the Manhattan positions. Wherever and whenever you take your pictures, send them to photos (at) gothamist (dot) com, or tag them "gothamist" on Flickr-- we'll put up the best ones tomorrow.

Mun Dark Knight setja met í ađsókn fyrstu sýningarhelgi sína í USA
'Dark Knight' Prediction: $130M Weekend
It's understandable even if ridiculous that Warner Bros keeps trying to lower everyone's expectations for this behemoth blockbuster of a Batman Begins sequel. My sources at the studio keep insisting that Dark Knight will "only" make $90 million to $100 million for its opening 3-day weekend. I can't believe they're seriously suggesting that Dark Knight will make less than Iron Man. But the WB insiders point to all the increased competition at the megaplex now as opposed to the beginning of May. Whereas my box office gurus are predicting domestic gross as high as $130M for the wildly anticipated Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale film because of all those record-breaking early ticket sales at North American runs, including IMAX. One worry mitigating the Heath Ledger fanboy factor which Hollywood has mentioned is that the pic's 2 hour and 32 minute running time will limit showings. But that isn't an issue anymore since many theater managers/owners plan round-the-clock screenings during its midnight July 18 mega-debut. Heck, even the staid New York Times is gushing all giddy about the pic in its news pages, even predicting that moviegoers are so hot for the pic they'll take the day off next Friday just to see it. (Hey, not everyone who frequents the cineplex asks, "You want fries with that?") So let's all get on the same page.

Mun Alicia Keys taka viđ af Amy Winhouse í ađ syngja nýja Bond Lagiđ ?
After Amy Winehouse was declared the winner of the Quantum of Solace theme song for the second Daniel Craig Bond movie, she had the honor suddenly pulled. You know, it was Amy Winehouse, she probably smoked crack in the song or something.
Whatever happened, E! is now reporting that Alicia Keys is all but a lock for the new theme, though no official announcement has been made.
