Despite rumors to the contrary, NBC announced Friday that it was going ahead with plans to broadcast the Golden Globes ceremony.

Held a little over a week from today, on January 13th, the show is expected to be picketed by the striking writers and the Screen Actors Guild is advising members not to attend.

Should be very interesting to see what happens!

Britney Spears áframhald fréttir

As an update on Britney Spears’ latest meltdown, it has been reported that she has been placed on a minimum 72-hour lockdown (known as a 5150) at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Spears’ court-appointed child monitor reportedly called the police last night when Britney locked herself in a room with her son Jayden James.

And ......

we have to wait until Monday to find out the results of Friday's emergency hearing in the Britney vs K-Fed bitter baby battle!

Hopefully the court will take the steps necessary to ensure the safety of those children….and Britney's safety too.

Update: "There are no winners here," Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said after Friday's hearing.

He added that he was "not happy about any of the events that have happened."

And.....

The reason Jayden James was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance on Thursday evening?

Britney said that he had a bruise on him, a family insider tells Page Six, adding, “And she said she did not do it.”

Little JJ was checked out by the doctors and released early Friday morning, when he was returned to K-Fed's house.

"The boys are okay, just very shaken up," says the family insider. "It took Kevin quite a while to get them settled down."

Thankfully neither Small Fry nor Tater Tot were seriously injured!!!

Britney's lawyers can breath a little easier!

Despite the madness of Thursday night, law enforcement have announced they will not be pressing any charges against Spears.

"We aren't charging her with anything at this time," says an LAPD spokesperson.

The court, on the other hand, may have severe sanctions against Unfitney for violating their custody orders!

K-Fed gets full physical and legal custody

KFed_Britney0104.jpg
The emergency hearing in Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's custody battle is over. K-Fed was temporarily awarded full physical and legal custody of children Sean Preston and Jayden, and Britney's custody is suspended. Upon exiting the LA courthouse, Kevin's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told In Touch , "I'm not happy about any of these events going on," adding, "There are no winners." The order is in effect until January 14, when there will be a hearing to determine where the case goes.

Earlier today, Britney Spears' lawyer Tara Scott left the chambers looking extremely unhappy alongside Kaplan after a 20-minute meeting behind closed doors. According to insiders, the mood at the courthouse was somber as people were still in shock over the events that took place last night. Just yesterday, Scott filed legal papers requesting that Trope and Trope be removed from Britney's case, citing a "breakdown in communication" between the law firm and the troubled pop star.

It should be light, fun and full of Anne Hathaway’s hotness.

They become the biggest stars in their neighborhood.
The Buzz: Michel Gondry’s quirky flick is one of the best reasons to attend this year’s Sundance Film Festival, but if you have to wait — you will surely be rewarded. In every trailer thus far, Mos Def and Jack Black look like a perfect tandem for a movie like this. Fans of oddball comedy should find this one to be a nice early-year surprise.

The Buzz: While Wall-E is significantly more soft-spoken than any past Pixar character (except Luxo the lamp, that is), we have no doubts that audiences will have no trouble falling head over heels for the little guy — it’s something in his eyes. Andrew Stanton and the crew at Pixar have failed to disappoint us up to now, with plenty of great films under there belt — we see no reason why they would start here.

Synopsis: Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.

The Buzz: Part of it may be the fanboy inside of me, the other part might be the brilliant web of viral marketing being spun by the folks at Warner Brothers, but there is 2008 release that can get here any sooner than The Dark Knight. Christian Bale is back and as badass as ever in the (nippleless) batsuit and Heath Ledger is slowly transforming into the Joker that we never knew he could be. Mark my words, The Dark Knight is going to rule the summer box office.

Blu-Ray Vinnur stríđiđ međ ţessari yfirlýsingu Warner

Warner backs Blu-ray exclusively

Citing consumer confusion, studio will stop marketing HD DVD in May

Warner Bros. Entertainment this year will begin releasing high-definition titles exclusively in Blu-ray Disc, dealing a severe blow to the HD DVD format.

The studio hopes its decision will help end the format war, and boost the chances of high-definition quickly becoming a vital business. Retailers have long complained that consumers are too confused by two formats to adopt either Blu-ray or HD DVD.

With Warner now in the BD camp, only Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Paramount/DreamWorks will produce and market titles in the HD DVD format.

Warner will be joining other BD exclusive suppliers, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Walt Disney Home Entertainment, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and Lionsgate.

Warner’s shift to Blu-ray becomes effective later this year. All new releases are expected to street in BD and HD DVD through May 2008. However, during those upcoming months there will be a short lag between the Blu-ray/standard DVD release and the HD DVD release.

“Warner Bros.’ move to exclusivity release in the Blu-ray Disc format is a strategic decision focused on the long term and the most direct way to give consumers what they want,” said Warner chair and CEO Barry Meyer. “The window of opportunity for high-definition DVD could be missed if format confusion continues to linger. We believe that exclusively distributing in Blu-ray will further the potential for mass market success and ultimately benefit retailers, producers, and most importantly consumers.”

Through last year, Warner had been touting its dual format strategy as a way to maximize high-definition revenues.

But Warner management decided switching to Blu-ray exclusivity was necessary to match increasing consumer demand toward the format over HD DVD. BD does enjoy a far larger hardware installation base, due mostly to the millions of BD-equipped Playstation 3 consoles sold. Earlier in the year, attraction for the PS3 seemed stalled, but the introduction of a relatively cheap $399 system reinvigorated the gaming system.

“A two-format landscape has led to consumer confusion and indifference toward high-definition, which has kept the technology from reaching mass adoption and becoming the important revenue stream that it can be for the industry,” said Kevin Tsujihara, president Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group. “Consumers have clearly chosen Blu-ray and we believe that recognizing this preference is the right step in making this great home entertainment experience accessible to the widest possible audience. Warner Bros. has worked very closely with the Toshiba Corporation in promoting high-definition media and we have enormous respect for their efforts. We look forward to working with them in the future.”
